Grade 5- Graph Paper Programming

We are learning to communicate ideas through codes and symbols.

We have been learning about algorithms or a list of steps. Today we will explore coding an algorithm.


Today we will build a drawing machine. First, we'll begin with an algorithm. Then, we will substitute code to build a program.

Classwork:

Working with a partner complete the Four-by-Fours Activity

1. Use the symbols to create a program.
2. Trade papers with a partner.
3. Your partner follows your program to figure out which graph paper image you coded.
4. You solve your partners puzzle at the same time.
